Khai & Linda's Elopement | Honolulu, Hawaii
by Mark Pereyra
Warm waters, surfing, poke, beaches - does that sound familiar?
If you guessed Hawaii, you guessed right. Our team had a chance to capture love in Honolulu for Khai and Linda’s elopement. In February I captured David’s brother’s wedding in New York, and now I’m capturing his other brother’s wedding in Hawaii. There’s a reoccurring pattern here, as you can see. But I am super grateful that these guys trust me for one of the biggest days of their lives.
Khai and Linda are passionate and adventurous people with a love for spam musubi, which was one of the reasons why they chose Hawaii to elope at (really!). Khai would describe Linda as loving, caring and spontaneous, and Linda would describe Khai as hardworking and empathetic. Together they complete their love story - their yin and yang.
One of the reasons they wanted to do an elopement versus a traditional wedding was they wanted more intimate moments on the island together.
With that in mind, we made sure to plan the perfect itinerary. We first started at Sandy Beach, known for its lava rocks and powerful shore breaks. This was where they tied the knot. We then made it to Kahala beach, one of my personal favorites because of the long road of palm trees that make for beautiful scenery. Afterward, we went to Monoa Falls, a perfect place if you want to experience Hawaii’s forests (there’s a specific spot where you cross a debris box, and you are greeted with a panoramic view of forestation - truly majestic). We ended the day at Moana beach, the perfect place for sunset because we had an incredible view of the city along with the beach as the background.
Congratulations again, Khai and Linda! It was an honor getting to photograph your guys’ elopement.
