From playing Mom and Dad at a culture show in Santa Clara University to becoming husband and wife—Mimi and Hao’s love story was written in the stars (or, at least, on the stage!). With their hashtag #MyDongForever, these two took their on-stage chemistry and turned it into a lifelong partnership.
Mimi and Hao’s wedding day at Silver Creek Valley Country Club in San Jose was nothing short of breathtaking. This venue always feels like a dream to photograph—panoramic rolling hills, a grand ballroom with floor-to-ceiling windows, and, of course, that stunning flagstone patio where they said their “I do’s” in front of a majestic waterfall.
The morning was filled with anticipation—Mimi, surrounded by her hype girls, was all smiles and excitement, while Hao and his groomsmen kept things cool and relaxed. When the moment finally arrived for their first look, you could see the emotions settle in. Mimi looked absolutely radiant, and Hao’s reaction? Priceless.
With the sound of cascading water behind them, Mimi and Hao exchanged heartfelt vows in front of their closest family and friends. Hao describes Mimi as kind, generous, and fiercely driven—qualities that shone through as she walked down the aisle. And Mimi? She loves Hao’s honesty, his unwavering care, and the fact that he’s been by her side through all of life’s highs and lows.
During the reception, the ballroom filled with eager guests, buzzing with excitement for the night ahead. The bridal party made their grand entrance—dancing their way in and setting the energy high. And then, all eyes were on Mimi and Hao as they took the floor for their first dance. With every step, you could see the love and connection between them, and the dance ended in true fairy-tale fashion—with a breathtaking dip as sparklers lit up behind them.
Then came the heartfelt speeches—Mimi’s parents, her sisters, and Hao’s best man all shared touching words that had everyone laughing one moment and tearing up the next. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room when Mimi’s parents gave their heartfelt speeches, followed by emotional and funny toasts from Mimi’s sisters and Hao’s best man. Of course, it all ended with a lively Môt, hai, ba, dzô!—a perfect way to kick off the celebration!
After the speeches, Mimi and Hao took time to visit each table, soaking in the love and joy from their closest friends and family. And just when everyone thought the formalities were over, Mimi and Hao flipped the script—surprising their guests with an epic dance number with the bridal party! One second, they were the newlyweds; the next, they were leading a full-on dance crew. It was the perfect way to transition into open dancing for the rest of the night!
Let’s talk about the reception. This is always one of our favorite parts to photograph. It’s raw, it’s real, and it’s fun. The energy, the laughter, and the completely unfiltered moments make for some of the best memories. Mimi and Hao’s celebration was just pure joy from start to finish.
