Sweetzelle & Julian's Wedding at the Carmel Highlands | Carmel, California

I’ve taken wedding photos for 2 of my cousins now, and every time it is a treat.

I’ve know Julian and Sweetzelle for over a decade, and when I found out that they were going to get married , I knew they would be a perfect fit. Sweet loves how much Julian has grown confident throughout their relationship, and loves his independence. Julian loves how Sweet is the ultimate support without saying much, and that they talk everything out together. It’s those unifying traits that they love.

When I think about Sweet and Julian’s wedding, I think about incredible intimacy.

They decided to have a micro destination wedding at the Carmel Highlands, a venue I’ve been meaning to shoot since starting my wedding photography career. Everything about the day was perfect - from the coastal views to the warm, Indian summer, to the sunflower arch that lay just in front of the coastal highway.

We started our day, and right off the bat I caught some incredible moments.

I remember their first touch, a moment where a couple doesn’t get to see each other but they touch hands for the first time. They were giving each other a pep talk before everything began, assuring they got each other and they got this. I remember seeing Sweet walk down the aisle and as I caught Julian’s reaction, he started to get emotional. Tears flowed out and he had to bite his fist to hold himself together. And I remember the intimate reception dinner, and the emotional speech from Sweet’s mom. It was one of my favorite moments to capture.

Towards the end of the wedding, we had the most amazing sunset session on the balcony.

There’s just something about a Carmel sunset that hit’s different than the rest of California. It reminds me of Hawaii. We ended in a sunroom, where Sweet and Julian danced the night away. It was breathtaking.

Congratulations again, Sweet and Julian! It was such an honor to capture your wedding. I’ll see you guys real soon and all the time, when I come down to visit the family ♥️
